Allergy Aware Asian Fare by Sharon Wong

I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday weekend! Life was too busy last week to share a recipe or an email. Thank you to everyone who responded to the poll about what recipe to share next from the last email. As requested, I posted my egg-free lemon bar recipe It's not a typical lemon bar recipe, but I love it!

Here are my top recommendations from Nut Free Wok for this week.

New and Recommended Recipes

Creamy Lemon Crumble, Egg-free

When my son was allergic to eggs, I could not find an egg-free lemon bar recipe that I liked until I found a creamy lemon crumble recipe. It's so good, I love the oat topping, the creamy lemon layer, the crust, mmm, yum!

Oyako Donburi

Oyako donburi is a Japanese chicken and egg over rice dish. Make this family style recipe in a large frying pan and scoop a portion into each person's bowl of rice for a quick and hearty meal. I haven't tested using an egg replacer but I think it could work for someone with an egg allergy, test with a small batch in a small frying pan.

Vietnamese Garlic Noodles, Egg-Free

While I love Vietnamese garlic noodles made with fresh noodles from Asian supermarkets, my egg-free adaptation to use spaghetti, a pantry staple, is so convenient. If you aren't allergic to eggs and have access to fresh noodles (ex. Chinese chow mein noodles), then cook according to package and follow the steps cooking and seasoning the spaghetti.

Important Update

We are getting closer to a website update. I just wanted to let you know in advance so that you won't be surprised or alarmed. Hopefully the update will go smoothly but if you need any recipes the next two weekends, be sure to print them out in advance.

Warmly,

Sharon Wong
