Allergy Aware Asian Fare by Sharon Wong

Dear friends, how did the month go by so quickly!? How is it already the last full week of September? Since we are officially in the fall season, I will be sure to share more seasonal recipes next week.

For this week I have a new recipe featuring a famous dish from Japan. Have you ever heard of or tried okonomiyaki? It is actually easy to make, very allergy friendly because the whole idea is to make it your way!

We have a firm date and time when we'll be doing some upgrades to Nut Free Wok. Details below.

Okonomiyaki

New recipe!! Okonomiyaki is a Japanese savory cabbage pancake that is a famous dish from Osaka, Japan. My Japanese homestay family showed me how to make it nearly 30 years ago. This recipe is allergy-friendly with a few modifications.

Potsticker Soup

Instead of pan-frying potstickers, you can add frozen potstickers to napa cabbage and carrot cooked in a large pot of chicken broth for a hearty soup perfect for fall. This is a perfect semi-homemade meal for when you're short on time or energy.

Chocolate Oatmeal

Making chocolate oatmeal is actually inspired by champorado, a Filipino chocolate rice porridge, which is delicious breakfast treat. Either way, both are a great way to start the day now that the weather is cooling down.

Additional Updates

California's Governor Newsom signed Elijah's Law!! That's such happy news, congrats to the Silvera family, we are so grateful for their tireless advocacy.
