Allergy Aware Asian Fare by Sharon Wong

Happy summer! Our family enjoyed 2-3 weeks of family time together in July and it was awesome to sitesee and then recover from jetlag together!

Our family traveled to Melbourne and Syndey, Australia because my son was a speaker at a science, math, and engingeering conference in Melbourne and then we spent a few days together in Sydney for some siteseeing. Let me know if you want my food allergy mom travel tips for Australia.

It was a great trip and I'm so happy my son took an extra week to spend time at home before going back to Boston for his summer internship. He noticed that I was mashing up some watermelon in a glass to make a drink. He loved the idea so much that he strongly insisted that share the recipe on the blog because he thinks you will love it!

Here are my top recommendations from Nut Free Wok for this week.

New and Recommended Recipes

Watermelon Yakult Drink

New recipe! There's still a few more weeks of hot summer weather to get the most enjoyment from this refreshing watermelon yakult drink.

Sweet Pickled Cucumbers

Nothing reminds me of summer as much as these sweet pickled cucumbers. They're a perfect way to use up a bumper crop of cucumbers and/or buy extra when they go on sale.

Minced Beef with Tofu, Peas, and Oyster Sauce

This recipe is pure comfort food, easy to make, and very delicious when served with rice.

Additional Updates:

Are your kids heading back to school soon? Allow extra time to refill their epi for the school office and remember to review their 504 plan and think about accommodations needed for their safety.

Are you taking your big kids to college this fall? Congratulations!! I compiled some of my move in (and move out) tips and my allergy mom advice for college students. My younger son will be a senior, so this is my very last back to school!

Warmly,

Sharon Wong
