Read for two NEW recipes from Nut Free Wok and register for a Food Allergy Awareness Walk in the SF Bay Area!

Hello Reader,

How are you? I hope you're having a great day! It's been awhile since I've had a chance to email you an update. I hope that you're having a happy spring with your family, friends, and loved ones.

I've been busy in the kitchen and ended up sharing two dim sum recipes on the blog. If you aren't familiar with dim sum, it's like Chinese small bites or appetizers served for breakfast, brunch, or snacks.

Dim Sum Baos (buns)

New Recipe! Dai Bao, which are gigantic buns filled with chicken, pork, half an egg, and Chinese sausages were my favorite bao. Our family's go-to dim sum take out closed decades ago and I felt very nostalgic for them recently, which is my inspiration for making them.

New Recipe! Baked Char Siu Bao are Chinese pork buns that are baked instead of steamed. I use the tangzhong method to hyrdate the flour in the dough and the bread is tender and moist. Typical baked char siu baos are likely to have hidden sesame, but I also have a recipe for nut-free, sesame-free oven-baked char siu that you can use in the char siu bao.

I love homemade steamed char siu baos and my recipe is a no-knead recipe so that it's super easy and relatively quick to make. If you try the dai bao recipe, you'll notice that the dough recipes are similar. And if you try the baked char siu bao recipe, you'll notice that the filling recipes are similar.

Have you tried these recipes?

Food Allergy Awareness Walk

The San Francisco Bay Area will have a Food Allergy Awareness Walk and I'm honored to be their guest speaker. If you are in the area on Sunday May 31, please register to attend. It's a great way to show support for food allergies and to raise awareness by inviting people you know.

Nut Free Bakeries and Restaurants

The post needs an update but if you have any suggestions, please leave any recommendations in the comments and I will check them out next time I have a few hours to review and update the list!
